XUI Web Applications Development Trends for 2006 and Beyond

Rich Internet Applications (RIA)

When: November 18, 2005

Time: 12:00pm - 1:30pm

Where: SJSU Professional Development Center
2160 Lundy Avenue, Suite 250
San Jose, CA 95131

JWAY GROUP, Inc. and San Jose State University Professional Development Center collaborate to bring a series of Lunch & Learn sessions on Web Applications Development Trends to Silicon Valley professionals.

The internet continues to evolve. The web remains to be the main avenue to deliver business applications within the internet. Producing an effective user interface for these applications has become a complex web of choices. Numerous technologies and approaches are available to enable user interaction for web applications – DHTML, Flash, Java Applets, Active X, Java Web Start, SVG, AJAX, etc. Which technical solution do we choose and why?

This session provides an introduction to Rich Internet Applications (RIA):
  • What is RIA?
  • Why RIA?
  • RIA vs. Traditional Web Applications
  • Differences between different approaches in developing RIAs
  • When to use and not to use RIA?
  • How does RIA impact the web development team (specifically, user interface designers and web developers)?
  • What development model is appropriate for RIA?
  • Overview of AJAX
At the end of the session, the audience is expected to gain high-level view of what RIA is, why it is fast becoming a trend, how it impacts roles and development processes, and when to use RIA to benefit both the web development team and the end-users.

Lunch will not be provided but you are welcome to bring your lunch during the session.

Seats are limited. Please RSVP to Renee Paris at rparis@profdev.sjsu.edu or at (408) 519-1272 ext 1308.
